What They Say
Eizo put out an information update about compatibility issues between Apple PCs equipped with the new M1 chip and the Big Sur OS and some of its monitors. Some systems are only able to display on one Thunderbolt output, rather than both. There can also be issues with banding and correct colour support. In some cases this can be fixed by changing the colour format from YUV to RGB. There are more details here. macOS Big Sur (11.0) and EIZO Software Compatibility.
What We Think
Big Sur and the M1 have between them caused all sorts of incompatibility issues with specialist hardware (I have two pieces of such musical equipment) so it’s not a surprise to see monitors affected. Eizo has responded well by informing its users. (BR)
