Apple has officially launched its Self Service Repair program

What They Say

Apple put out a press release saying that its Self Service Repair system is now available in the US and will expand into Europe and then beyond later this year. There’s a new repair store for more than 200 parts and tool kits can also be rented or purchased. Toolkits are $49 for a week, with shipping included. Apple said that the program is designed only for “individual technicians with the knowledge and experience to repair electronic devices.”

What We Think

I wouldn’t expect it to be much cheaper to use Apple’s services, but this is a step in the right direction to open and sustainable repair systems. (BR)
