Apple Clashes with Studios Over UHD Pricing

Apple

Apple is having trouble coming to an agreement with Hollywood studios over Ultra HD content pricing, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The forthcoming update to the Apple TV, to be announced at the company’s 2017 launch event on September 12th, will finally bring UHD content to the platform, something that competitors have been providing for a while now.

However, studios are apparently dissatisfied with Apple’s price-point for Ultra HD content, believing it to be too low.

Analyst Comment

Apple’s disagreements with media partners have been well-documented over the years. These mismanaged deals have undoubtedly contributed to Apple TV’s decline in sales, overtaken by competitors Amazon, Google and Roku. Can they pull it back? We’ll have to wait and see. (AF)
