Apple Buys Chip Facility

Apple

Apple has paid $18.2 million to purchase a new building in north San Jose, only a few minutes from 86 acres of land that was also recently acquired by the company. The 6,500m² building was a manufacturing facility for chip maker Maxim, which sold the facility this summer. Equipment, capable of producing chips at sizes from 600nm to 90nm, was included in the transaction, although this is much larger than the chips Apple normally uses.
