Staffing shortages, low yield rates and delayed shipments of key components at have caused Apple to shift a significant proportion of orders for iPhone XR handsets from Pegatron to Foxconn, Digitimes according to a report attributed to China’s Economic Daily News (EDN).
Pegatron was asked to fulfil around 50-60% of iPhone XR orders, with Foxconn producing about 30%. Pegatron will now be producing less than 30%, while Apple will change tack, ordering a substantially larger number of handsets from Foxconn than it had originally planned. The report from EDN also revealed that the Japan Display-made LCD panels used in the iPhone XR have been subject to supply issues.
