We reported from Infocomm that AOpen, part of the Wistron group, would be making modules for the Mini-OPS specification, which was developed by Sharp and Intel. Now AOpen has released a module that is pre-loaded with Windows 10 IoT Enterprise OS. The module (PNZB03PC) is available from Sharp.
The module is fanless but few other details were available at press time.
Analyst Comment
It seems that there is little support for mini-OPS, still. The surprise to me when I heard of it last year is that the modules are no slimmer than full OPS modules. There is clearly a desire for slimmer displays, and there is no real shortage of area on the back of most LFDs, so it’s hard to see what the real advantage of mini-OPS is. (BR)
