Germany’s CRN ran its own April Fool’s prank this year, pointing at an upcoming Apple eReader called the ‘iRead’. It certainly sounded promising – an UltraHD display, full Adobe RGB coverage and a pulse sensor on the back. “It can measure the blood movement in your fingertips to track the level of excitation when reading Fifty Shades of Grey”, promised CRN. Of course, this came at a cost – a 10-hour battery life and $1,000 price tag, scaling to $50,000 for a model ‘bound in leather from the hindquarters of Japanese Kobe cattle’. A special American edition, stuffed with feathers from a bald eagle, is still under speculation.
