Analogix Semiconductor has developed new embedded DisplayPort (eDP) mainstream timing controllers (TCONs), as well as Panel Self Refresh- (PSR) enabled TCONs supporting UltraHD. These devices enable mobile vendors to extend battery life under ‘any’ usage conditions, says Analogix, while also providing video.
The ANX1701 and ANX1772 mainstream TCONs use the Analogix Gapless architecture; this enables minimal display power consumption, with a continuous flow of video to the display. Analogix says that this can be accomplished ‘regardless of the state of the CPU, GPU, battery or other components’.
Analogix’ ANX2875 and ANX2806 PSR-enabled TCONs optimise a mobile display’s performance and are said to extend its battery life. PSR stores video in a buffer, so the GPU can power down during light usage.
