What They Say
DSCC forecast that AMOLED stack materials would grow at 18% CAGR from $927 million in 2019 to $2.46 billion in 2024. The company has increased its forecast because of an expected increase in rigid OLED sales for IT applications.
The firm’s new report confirms the additional green layer in LG’s latest WOLED stack and includes an estimate of the cost adder for this, which is almost $20/m². It has also looked at the likely improvements that LGD can make savings, bringing material costs down from $88.14/m² in 2019 to just under $50 by 2025.
RGB inkjet panels could have material costs of 50% lower than WOLED by 2025, although that is an unyielded calculation. QD-OLED is expected to have higher costs than WOLED because of the cost of the conversion layer, compared to the cost of filters in WOLED. Inkjet printing soluble materials should rise to around $268 million, just 11% of the market.
Looking at the supplier side, UDC will remain the biggest supplier in 2021 but the top four (UDC + Idemitsu Kosan, Novaled and Merck) will take 62% of the market this year.
