Business Insider ($) reports that Amazon plans to release its own branded TVs in sizes from 55″ to 75″ in the US, perhaps as soon as October. Although they have had input from the Amazon Devices and Lab126 teams over two years, the first models are likely to be designed and built by ODMs. Amazon released TVs under the AmazonBasics brand in India.
What We Think
There are TVs from other brands that are based on the FireTV OS. I wonder if there will be a reaction to Amazon doing its own thing by those brands? It may be that there is a feeling that there is enough room for everyone. (BR)
