Aer Lingus Takes on iPads – But Remembers Backups

Irish airline, Aer Lingus, has swapped its flight manuals for iPads, creating a paperless cabin. Cabin crew will also use the tablets to carry out tasks such as seat upgrades. Director of IT service management, Derek Monahan, said that Aer Lingus jets are equipped with backup Panasonic Toughbooks, in case the iPads fail (as recently happened to American Airlines: American Airlines Stays Grounded on iPad Glitch).
