Acer will Continue to Push Its Gaming PC Business This Year

Acer CEO Jason Chen has gone on the record to say that the company will continue to grow its gaming PC sales, and that the sector has been instrumental in helping the firm become profitable again, according to Digitimes. Acer is now targeting its sales of gaming devices to boost its overall margin further. Chen made the comments at the company’s product launch event in New York last week.

Chen reportedly told Digitimes that gaming PCs will be the company’s major growth driver this year. According to the report, Acer’s gaming PC sales saw a 94% year-on-year growth during the first quarter of 2018 and saw even higher growth in the month of April. Acer is now the number two gaming PC vendor globally, though Chen predicts it will steal pole position from Dell during 2018.

Acer revealed a range of gaming PC products at the launch, including new Predator Helios, Predator Orion and Nitro gaming PCs, alongside new products for the education sector. A Predator X gaming PC is also planned for launch later this year. (Acer Announces New Gaming and School Line-Up)

Chen indicated that the company’s long-term development strategy will see it move on to VR and AI.

Acer’s Predator Helios 300 Special Edition gaming notebook comes in a white and gold colour scheme, with matching headphones, a mouse and a gaming backpack.
