Acer Widens Choice in 27″ Gaming Space

Directly competing with Asus’ PG278Q (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 3), Acer has announced the 27″ XB270HU. It is a gaming monitor that is almost identical to Asus’ model, appearing to use the same AUO panel – or at least a very similar version.

Featuring Nvidia’s G-Sync technology, the XB270HU is free of screen tearing and judder during gameplay and video playback when used with an appropriate graphics card. It supports 3D Vision and a new Ultra Low Motion Blur mode, which is part of G-Sync. Additionally, the unit is flicker-free and has an ergonomic stand with tilt, swivel and 150mm height adjustment.

The (supposed) AUO panel used provides 2560 x 1440 resolution; a 144Hz refresh rate; 170 deg /160 deg viewing angles; and 1ms (grey-to-grey) response time. DisplayPort and USB 3.0 (x4) ports are featured.

Release is currently scheduled for Q1’15, but a price has not been announced yet.
