Acer’s New Laptop ‘Refreshed’ With UltraHD

Acer launched the Aspire V Black Edition gaming laptop earlier this year, and has waited very little time before refreshing it with an UltraHD screen. The new Aspire V Nitro Black Edition features a 15.6″ display, Core i7 Haswell CPU (i7-4710HQ) and discrete (Geforce 860M) graphics.

CNet notes that that 860M is not perfectly suited for pushing modern games to high resolutions. The card will enable UltraHD play with older games, but new software will likely need to be run at 1920 x 1080.

An IPS panel is used, in the display, providing 178 deg viewing angles and a 1,000:1 contrast ratio. Windows 8.1 is pre-installed and supported by 16GB of RAM. The laptop has a 256GB SSD and 1TB HDD. It also features HDMI, USB 3.0 (x3), RJ45 and SD card ports.

Acer will begin to sell the Aspire V Nitro laptop in mid-November, for $1,500. It will arrive in Europe at the end of November.
