Acer Incorporated reported Q2 net profits of NT$243.9 million ($8.0 million), down from NT$538.5 million ($17.8 million) a year ago, on revenue which fell 4.6% to NT$53.6 billion ($1.8 billion) from NT$56.2 billion ($1.9 billion). For the first six months there were profits of NT$306.5 million ($10.1 million), a drop from NT$584.6 million ($19.3 million), on turnover which slipped 2.5% to NT$109.7 billion ($3.6 billion) from NT$112.5 billion ($3.7 billion). Acer said that it was not helped by unfavourable exchange rates, but that there was growth in shipments of notebooks, which improved its margins.
