What They Say

Acer reported that its sales were up by 34.9% year on year in August, and were up 11.2% for the year to date. Chromebooks were up 59.6% YoY, while gaming products (desktops, notebooks, monitors) saw 87.8% growth and monitors were up by 49.4%. Much of the growth was in Pan America and EMEA.

What We Think

“It’s an ill wind that blows nobody any good”. Acer, with its strong position in Chromebooks, which are an ideal lower cost option to give children internet access for home schooling and gaming, which has seen great demand growth, has really been in a good position to profit from Covid after a long period when it has struggled to achieve growth.
