Acer has announced that its new home theatre projector, the Acer VL7860, is now available in the US . Claimed to be the world’s smallest Ultra HD, 3000-lumen laser projector, the VL7860 features a compact design for delivering laser-quality visuals in a wide range of environments and uses a laser-phosphor engine. This new model is designed to allow movie buffs to enjoy the cinema at home with a 120″, UHD display, with 8.3 megapixels on screen.
Reaching up to 3,000 ANSI lumens and boasting 1,500,000:1 DynamicBlack contrast, which dynamically adjusts lamp power to optimum black levels, the VL7860 is also HDR-compatible. Leveraging the sRGB standard, the device eliminates deviation in colour reproduction. It supports a wide colour gamut of 110% of the Rec. 709 color space and is Rec. 2020 (also known as BT.2020) compatible.
It also features the AcuMotion frame interpolation system, which calculates and generates intermediate frames, inserting them into existing ones, as well as two built-in five-watt speakers and 1.6x zoom, allowing customers to position the device at a range of different throw distances. They can also leverage its ISFccc-certified Professional Calibration mode to optimise colour and brightness to best suit the environment, and a vertical lens shift enables its adjustment via control wheels. Connectivity includes VGA and dual HDMI ports, including one with MHL charging for smartphones and other devices.
Since the projector utilises laser diode technology, there is no need replace mercury-based lamps, which saves money, time and impact on the environment. In addition, ECO mode claims to enable customers to further reduce power consumption and extend lamp life up to 30,000 hours. The Acer VL7860 projector is available in the United States with a limited one-year parts and labour warranty for $3,999.99.
