Acer reached sales of NT$237.28 billion ($8.1 billion) in 2017, up 2%, while it moved back into profit at NT$2.82 billion ($96.4 million), a turnaround from a loss in 2016. The company has seen a steady improvement in operating margin since Q2 2017 and has improved its gross margins from 9.0% in Q4 2016 to 10.7% in Q4 2017. Displays remain 12% of its business, while notebooks increased slightly to 68% in Q4. Despite talk at press events about new categories, the ‘others’ categories declined from 7% to 6%. For the year, displays took 13% and ‘others’, 7%, down from 9% in 2016.
