Acer Compensates for 30Hz With G-Sync

We first heard about Acer’s new offering for the gaming market – a large UltraHD monitor called the XB321HK – back in November last year (Leak Reveals New Acer Gaming Monitor), and it is now a reality. Designed for serious gamers (with a serious price tag), the unit supports Nvidia’s G-Sync.

Like Acer’s other new Predator XB1 monitors, the 32″ flagship is black with red accents. It features an IPS panel, and will display content at a maximum of 60Hz. This is mainly down to the interfaces: DisplayPort 1.2 (UltraHD at 60Hz) and HDMI 1.4 (UltraHD at 30Hz).

The XB321HK can tilt between -5° and 25° and is height adjustable to 120mm. It covers 100% sRGB and can show 10-bit colour. Response time is 4ms and brightness is 350 cd/m². Speakers are built in.

Acer is selling the monitor now, for $1,300.

Analyst Comment

It is a little disappointing to see HDMI 1.4 on a premium 2016 gaming monitor, although the G-Sync should smooth the gameplay experience out nicely. (TA)
