An 11.6″ Chromebook – the Chromebook 11 (CB3-131) – is intended for the education market. It features a durable chassis design, which can withstand up to 60kg of downward force on the top cover and 60cm drops on the corners. The display is anti-glare, with 1366 x 768 resolution.
Intel Celeron quad-core processors run the Chrome OS, with 2GB or 4GB of RAM and 16GB or 32GB of storage. Battery life is up to nine hours. Prices start at €265.
Although not on display, Acer announced another new unit called the Travelmate P648. It is a commercial notebook with a 14″ 1920 x 1080 display, as well as Skylake processors (Core i3, i5 or i7) and up to eight hours of battery life.
Acer says that the new Travelmate is the first notebook with 802.11ad WiFi, which uses the 60GHz spectrum. It is also light (1.7kg) and thin (2.12cm). HDD Freefall Protection instantly terminates operations when the notebook is dropped, and Acer Disk Anti-Shock Protection absorbs shocks up to 60kg/cm².
USB-C (supporting Thunderbolt), HDMI, USB 3.0 (x3) and a card reader are featured. The unit has up to 4GB of DDR4 RAM (upgradeable to 20GB), Nvidia Geforce 940M graphics and 1TB HDD or 512GB SSDs (with optional RAID 0 configuration). A host of security software, such as fingerprint reader, Trusted Platform Module and Acer’s ProShield Manager, are also installed.
The notebook will be available in April. Prices have not been announced.
Acer’s final notebook was an update to the Aspire V Nitro Black Edition (Acer’s New Laptop ‘Refreshed’ With UltraHD). Both the 15″ and 17″ models now feature Skylake processors; a Realsense camera; USB-C port; and DDR4 RAM. They will be launched in February, starting at €1,040.
