Acer Adjusts Brightness for Optimal Black Levels

Acer’s new S1383WHNE DLP projector is a professional model with a short throw ratio. Able to throw a 300″ image from 3.3m, it can be used in small- and mid-size venues as well as living rooms.

Manual remote control is possible via a LAN, using the Crestron web-based console. The S1383WHNE is also compatible with Crestron Roomview and can be ceiling-mounted.

Acer’s Constant Brightness feature maintains brightness levels for up to three years. Additionally, the projector will dynamically adjust dark scenes to optimal black levels while maintaining brightness.

Native resolution is 1280 x 800, with a 13,000:1 contrast ratio and 0.52:1 throw ratio. The lens is a fixed focus unit, but 2x digital zoom is built in to the projector. Images can be between 36″ and 300″, thrown from 0.4m – 3.4m.

+/-40 deg vertical keystone correction is featured. Brightness is 3,200 lumens, supplied by a 210W lamp lasting for 4,000 – 8,000 hours.

A single 10W speaker is built in, alongside MHL-HDMI, VGA (x2), composite, S-Video, USB and RJ45 ports.

The S1383WHNE measures 315 x 223.5 x 94mm and weighs 2.8kg. It is on sale in North America now for $700.
