Absen presents new MicroLED displays

Invidis reported that Absen has had an autumn launch of new LED displays. The Clear Cobalt series is designed for pitches between 0.7mm and 1.2mm. The displays uses flip-chip technology and is reported to have brightness of 1,200 cd/m². Contrast is quoted at 20,000:1. The surface of the display is a deep black non-reflective surface and the displays are reported to support 90% of Rec.2020.

The HC range is also new with 27″ cabinets of just 5.2 kg and has a 16:9 aspect ratio to alllow the creation of 4K and even 8K displays.

Finally, the firm has promoted its new AX Pro and MR series for mixed-reality film productions. They have brightness of 1,000 cd/m² and LED refresh of 7680Hz. The MR tiles are optimised for virtual floors in movie production.

What We Think

As we reported earlier, contacts in the small pitch LED market told me at the Peerless event in London that virtual production has been a great market that has replaced the rental and events market for most LED makers during Covid. (BR)
