OLED Info published an article that highlights the high level of energy loss in the driving circuitry of microLEDs. The report suggests that the energy loss could be enough that it makes it difficult for microLED to be more efficient than OLED and may be limited to just 10% efficiency overall.
What We Think
Of course, compared to LCD, 10% efficiency is very good, but the information on the losses in the driving circuitry is some that I haven’t seen before. It seems that display driving is often a somewhat neglected topic, despite its critical nature. (BR)
