Google has unveiled the first Android TV (Display Monitor Vol 20 No 40) product: a streaming media player for films, music and videos, called the Nexus Player. Produced by Asus, the Player will also be an Android gaming device, working with a gamepad (available separately). Users will be able to continue to play the same game on their phone after leaving the TV. Google Cast is also supported, so Android/iOS/Chrome devices can send content to the product. The Nexus Player runs on a quad-core 1.8GHz Intel Atom chipset, with Wi-Fi and an HDMI port. It is available in the USA now, through the Google Play Store, for $100.
