What They Say
UBI Research reported, via OLEDnet.com, that it expects the number of medium/large OLEDs sold to expand from 26.1 million expected in 2022 to 69.5 million in 2027. Difficult economic conditions meant that the number of TV OLEDs is expected to drop at the end of this year, but the volume is expected to grow to 14.8 million units at an annual growth rate of 11.2% and with a value of $9.18 billion, representing 62.8% of the total sales value.
IT use will grow from 2024 with 19.7 million units shipping by 2027 representing a CAGR of 22.9% after Apple switches to OLEDs in iPads. Tablet OLEDs are forecast to rise to 2 million in 2023, 7.2 million in 2024 and 23.3 million in 2927 which means a CAGR from 2023 of 85.7%. OLED for vehicles is also expected to grow at an annual average rate of 54.7% from 2022, and the market is expected to continue to expand.
What We Think
I have seen lots of negative numbers over the last few weeks and it’s nice to be reminded that some areas are growing – even though the growth in OLED is likely to be largely at the expense of LCD rather than in overall market growth. (BR)
