What They Say
Digitimes Research reported that the combined shipments in October from the top five notebook brands (excluding Apple) were down 13% from September and nearly 40% down on last year. Lenovo went past HP, but Dell was the only one to grow, but that was because of a weak September. Acer and Asus both saw shipments down 20%.
The top three ODMs were down 13% on a monthly basis with Quanta a long way down because a lot of deferred orders from Apple were shipped in September.
What We Think
It’s sad to see the impact of the market changes hitting notebooks so hard, after buyers fell in love with the category again during the pandemic. (BR)
