What They Say
DSCC added its views to the discussion about the adjustments in Apple’s iPhone 14 plans. The firm compared its survey on smartphone panels with the Bloomberg reports and currently sees iPhone 14 panel shipments are up 6.5% on 2021 to 81.7M panels. ASPs are up and the Pro and Pro Max are accounting for a 55% share in 2022 vs. 52% in 2021.
The best seller in 2022 is the 14 Pro Max which is taking 32% of panels shipped.
By panel supplier, SDC has maintained the same share as last year despite LGD and BOE expected to win more business at 77%. LGD’s share has actually fallen from 21% to 16% as it has struggled to launch its 14 Pro Max shipments. BOE’s share on the other hand has increased from 2% to 6%.
What We Think
The various reports seem to be in sync on what is happening at the moment. As usual, when demand is the limit, it’s harder to forecast than when supply is the limiter of sales. (BR)
