What They Say
Taiwan suffered magnitude 6.4 and 6.8 earthquakes yesterday and Trendforce of Taiwan reported on the impact of the events on chips and panels. Chip makers have not been significantly affected, it seems, although some machinery needed re-initialisation.
In terms of panels, Innolux and AUO are said to have already had slowed down production because of weak market conditions and the event is unlikely to cause any significant problems.
What We Think
As TrendForce pointed out, even if there had been some damage to panel factories, the oversupply is such at the moment that impacts on the supply chain would have been very limited. (BR)
