What They Say
AUO reported via an email to us that it’s revenue for May 2022 was down 31.6% YoY to $743 million, but up by 8.6% on a monthly basis. Area was up to 1.76 million m² in May, an increase of 11.3% on April. That highlights the continuing pressure on LCD pricing.
For the year to date, revenue is down 14.5% to $4.19 billion
Innolux was even further down in revenue by 42.6% YoY and 12.6% monthly to $609 million in May. Unit sales of large products were down just 0.3% to 10.58 million, while small and medium panels were up by 3.0% to 27.34 million.
What We Think
Of course, with record price falls, it can’t be said to be a surprise. AUO Is less dependent on TV panel sales than Innolux, I believe, so that Innolux is further down could be expected with the TV market in the doldrums. (BR)
