The 2022 SID/DSCC Business Conference at DisplayWeek, sponsored by Applied Materials, Corning, GE and Amorphyx will feature 39 different talks on all aspects of the display industry. One of five application-oriented sessions of the conference will address the Advanced IT display market which includes notebook PCs, tablets and monitors.
The IT market was one of the fastest growing markets during COVID-19 due to work from home and learn from home resulting in significant increases in tablet, notebook PC and monitor purchases.
The session titled “IT Display Market and Technology Outlook” will feature presentations from DSCC, LGD, Intel and Coherent Laser Systems.

David Naranjo, Senior Director, Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) will share DSCC’s insights on the latest results and outlook for each of these segments including post pandemic enterprise vs. consumer behavior, advanced display (OLEDs vs. MiniLED LCDs) vs. standard display shipments, cost outlook for LCDs and OLEDs in these markets and much more.
Dr. Jang Jin Yoo from LG Display will discuss the important role of ergonomic designs and requirements for an enjoyable and comfortable visual gaming experience. Dr. Yoo will share his findings from his investigation into a comprehensive set of ergonomic requirements for gaming displays. In his presentation, he will introduce the corresponding study results from relevant literature and experiments. He will also propose new criteria for gaming displays that inspires gamers and provides them with the right designs to excel and enjoy the experience.
Dr. Oliver Haupt from Coherent Laser Systems will discuss how Coherent and its partners are extending laser annealing to G8.5/G8.6 and why it is a compelling solution for next generation LCDs and OLEDs for the IT market. Today, all OLED IT panels are based on LTPS for good reasons such as lower power, smaller TFTs, higher brightness, good lifetime and improved long-term stability if using a tandem OLED structure. Coherent’s UV linebeam systems have been proven in mass production for decades and are the standard in the display industry for high resolution OLEDs.
Kunjal Parikh and Vivek Paranjape from Intel will discuss how they are working with the display industry and PC OEMs to solve the multitude of product design and technology challenges to bring foldable notebooks to market. This presentation will highlight some of these challenges, including foldable OLED display power, display lifetime, surface hardness and how they are delivering tools and products that are meaningful to their customers. Intel’s EVO platform is a specification for premium laptops that provide best of notebook PC experiences. Intel is defining the EVO specification for foldable display systems to ensure a premium experience for this new mobile device category. This presentation will provide an overview of how Intel’s hardware and software solutions stack will help establish this new device category for novel usages and provide a uniform basic experience across devices from various OEMs.
