Plans For A London Twin Of Giant Vegas Sphere Clears Key Approvals

What They Say

Developers of a plan to build a giant ‘LED sphere’ in the East of London, similar to one being built in Las Vegas have cleared a hurdle and been granted approval by local planners. (Will MSG Sphere Come to London?) It still has to be approved by the Mayor of London, but local opposition is often the hardest to get. There are said to have been objections by London Transport which already has overloads at time in that part of the City when there are football matches at West Ham.

The Las Vegas MSG Sphere has a 580,000 sq. ft. (54K m²) outer LED display and a 160,000 sq. ft (15K m²) inner display that will wrap over and behind the audience for the event location.

What We Think

There has been a lot of development in that part of London around the Olympic Park, built for the 2012 Olympics.

With a name redolent of Monosodium Glutimate, I guess we shouldn’t really expect anything tasteless! (Sorry!) (BR)
