What They Say
The Elec reported that a start-up in Korea called Lordin, founded in 2020, has filed a patent for a blue OLED material that is said to have an IQE of 90%. The materials do not use phosphorescence, but ‘controls the energy transfer speed between molecules inside the material to increase efficiency’.
It has also developed a dopant for blue phosphorescent material with an aim to supply it this year. It is also planning an IPO later this year.
What We Think
Things are really hotting up now in blue OLED. After more than two decades of ‘we’re nearly there’, we really are ‘nearly there’, I think after the recent comments by UDC and Noctiluca. There are bound to be more at Display Week. We dug out a slightly bizarre ‘company introduction’ video that was posted by OLED-Info, but it didn’t illuminate much (pun intended!) (BR)
