The Korea Herald reported that, based on data from NPD, Samsung has reached the top market share of 27.8% of the US high end projection market for the period from January to October. The UST laser-based (not laser phosphor) projectors in Samsung’s Premiere range were the successful models and the report said that Samsung has captured 44% of the UST segment.
What We Think
I was surprised to see Samsung getting back into the projector market after a gap of a decade or so but clearly it understood the market it was entering. To get 44% of a segment is a very good achievement in a single year, although the brand is one of the best known and it will have already had channels from its high-end TV business. (BR)
