Fisker’s electric Ocean SUV has a rotating center screen

What They Say

The Verge reported that EC start-up, Fisker Inc, has shown its Ocean SUV at the 2021 LA Auto Show that changes from portrait to landscape mode under motor control. The 17.1″ touch display is only available in the top of the range ($69K) Fisker Ocean Extreme or the the limited-edition launch version of the SUV. Lower versions also have a 17.1″ display, but without rotation.

Manufacture will start in Austria in November 2022.

What We Think

The press pack suggests that the ‘Landscape’ or ‘Hollywood’ mode is only available when the car is parked. At press time, I had not been able to dig out any specifications other than the 17.1″ diagonal and the 16:9 aspect ratio. I’d expect it to be an LCD. I don’t see the rotation as much more than a gimmick and another bit of mechanics that can go wrong. (BR)
