Global OEM TV Shipments rise 16.5% in 1H21

What They Say

Digitimes quoted data from AVC Revo on the shipments of TVs in the first half of the year by OEMs which it rates at 45.9 million up 16.5%. The three biggest regions were North America (up 19.2% to 9.7 million), China (up 19% to 9.4 million) and other Asian countries (up 31.1% to 9.6 million).

TPV had growing demand up 21% year on year with stable demand for Philips & AOC TVs, while Foxconn was up 58.6% on an annual basis, mainly with sets for Sharp and Sony. Shenzen KTC was up 40.1% and Gotrend was up 43.4%.

The firm expects a slowdown with a total down 1.4% for the year at 102 million units.

What We Think

There were very variable results considering the overall market growth of 6.1% quoted by Sigmaintell ((Sigmaintell Sees TV Growth Slowing). OEM shipments increased more than the market, but that wouldn’t be surprising. Last year, I would have expected brands to prioritise their in-house TV assembly in a weak Covid market. (BR)
