MicroLED Info interviewed Sapien Semiconductors, a Korean fabless chip company that designs PWM backplane and drivers for microLEDs. The company was founded in 2017 and claims a lot of depth and experience in driver circuitry. As well as backplanes for microdisplays, the CMOS circuitry can be used as individual LED device drivers when used with a suitable hybridisation system. That could extend the application into miniLED backlights as well as microLED displays.
