What They Say
The GFU in Germany said, based on data from GfK, that TV sales in Q2 in the country were up just 1% on last year, with revenues of €831 million, although volume fell by 18.5% to just under 1.3 million sets. The ASP rose 24% to €657, with 6%-8% in rising prices with the rest coming from a shift to more premium products.
Overall the market, 75% of sets have UltraHD resolution although this rose to 91% for sets of 55″ and more. Sets in that size class were 67% and SmartTV is now up to 93% by volume, 98% by value. Voice control (sprachsteuerung in the chart below) is up to 76% by volume, 88% by value.
What We Think
Q2 is usually a quieter quarter in the year, although with the Euros, there is a shift of some demand from later in the year to Q2. If the ASPs continue to stay high, revenues should grow well by Q4. (BR)
