What They Say
A hat tip to Jon Peddie for pointing me to a new eReader from Kobo. The Ellipsa uses a 10.3″ E Ink Cart 1200 display with 1404 x 1872 resolution (227ppi) and touch. It will be supplied with a stylus to allow note taking and graphic input, the first Kobo device to have that function.
The device has:
- Quad core 1.8GHz CPU/1GB RAM and 32GB of storage
- 802.11n Wi-Fi
- 2400 mAh battery
It costs $400 and will be available next month.
What We Think
It’s several years since we have reported on a Kobo product. Adding a stylus really makes a difference to the value of this kind of device, I think, but you would have to use the note taking a lot (or like this reviewer of the reMarkable 2, which seems to have the same display, unable to resist other apps) to prefer this to a full colour tablet.
