Huawei To Release 3 New Foldable Smartphones in 2H21

What They Say

Digitimes reported that Huawei, which launched the foldable Mate X2 a couple of months ago, is planning three new foldable devices in the second half of last year.

Digitimes Research believes that foldable smartphones will hit 7 million sales this year, up from 2.8 million last year. Looking at panel shipments, the firm said that production would reach 12 million this year, up from 4.4 million in 2020.

What We Think

I had a good look around, but couldn’t find a confirming source for the Huawei prediction, although the Digitimes article was widely re-published.

This wouldn’t be a complete surprise. If you have limited component supply, as Huawei does, you would want to optimise your sales of the most expensive class of devices. (BR)
