In digging around about the Omdia OLED materials market article today, we spotted a forecast from UBI research that we missed a few days ago on the Elec. UBI said that UTG will continue to dominate the market for foldable OLED cover windows over the next four years with the glass at 78.2% of the market in 2025. Colourless Polyimide will grow broadly in line with the market, but won’t significantly increase its penetration.
Samsung is only supplying panels with UTG at the moment and will continue to do this, UBI said. PI films will mainly be used in budget models in the future. The firm said that BOE and CSOT are using PI, but are looking to be able to supply UTG.
The firm cautioned that whatever material is used by Samsung and Apple in the future will dominate the supply side.

The value of this market is seen as growing very strongly. This UTG is very expensive, it seems! (BR)
