Ingentec develops CMW substrates for miniLED, microLED production

Digitimes has reported a new substrate type (copper magnetic wafer/CMW) that has been developed by Ingentec of Taiwan, a speciality gas supplier. CMW is said to allow very thin chips (min 30?) to be pre-aligned prior to mass transfer according to the report (which also says ‘almost without destroying chips’, but we guess this is a typo!!). Mass transfer is said to be at the rate of 6 million chips per hour.

The report also said that the firm is developing flexible and fine-pitch miniLED/microLED displays, and miniLED-backlit displays. The report said that Ingentec has partnered with automation equipment maker Innostar Service, driver IC design house SiliconCore Technology and transparent display maker PolyBright Optronics.

What We Think

Separately, Digitimes said that Excellence Optoelectronics Inc (EOI) is developing ‘with a US client’ a 165″ RGB miniLED display. It is working with High Power Opto and Ingentec to develop automotive microLED displays.

At press time, I had difficulty digging out more on CMW, but will keep digging! I found a report on an event in the China Times, said to be run by Jingcheng Technology on ‘copper magnetic’ technology.. (BR)
