A closer look at DXOMARK Display testing

What They Say

DXOMark released more details of the testing procedure for its DXOMark for smartphone displays.

What We Think

I have used the DXO software for raw conversion of digital photography for some years. The company developed lens-specific corrections that really made a very good job of correcting and improving my images. Because of my confidence in the firm’s technology and technical credibility, I have paid attention to its benchmarks for smartphone cameras and keep an eye on the results (and report them here when they seem significant). I thought that I had reported on the new display benchmarking back in October, but clearly something went wrong in our publishing and I didn’t. Apologies for that. Anyway, the firm has released a lot of information on its processes. I have relied on Ray Soneira’s reviews for my information on smartphone displays up to now, but DXO has extended the testing into video and touch, so I will be paying attention in the future. (BR)
