What They Say
The Elec in Korea reports that Wonik IPS is trying to buy the display equipment business of Semes, but the companies are struggling because Semes employees are paid substantially more than Wonik staff. The firms have an MOU on the deal but it may be derailed. The report said that the deal covers the photolitho and ‘wet equipment’ parts of the business, but not the inkjet business. Semes is an affiliate of Samsung.
KCTech has also tried to buy the business.
What We Think
DSCC had Wonik at #8 in its list of equipment suppliers earlier in the year. Semes has replaced Kateeva as the supplier of choice to Samsung of IJP equipment for its QDOLED development. (Kateeva out, SEMES in as Samsung closes in on QD-OLED) (BR)
