Roku introduces a new Ultra player, a 2-in-1 ‘Streambar’ and a new OS with support for AirPlay 2

What They Say

Roku has added new products. The Roku Ultra adds Dolby Vision support, Atmos and Bluetooth. It supports the AV1 codec. It has a remote that supports voice and headphones and the unit will cost $99.99

There is also a Roku Streambar with support that is similar to the Roku Streaming Stick+ and adds four speakers. It also supports Roku wireless speakers and the subwoofer.

A new version of the Roku OS (9.4) will support AirPlay 2.

What We Think

I’m a fan of Roku and use one in addition to my smart TV and Tivo box. I will be tempted to upgrade to the Ultra, although my new Panasonic TV is quite Smart. I’m not sure, though whether it can support streamed Dolby Vision, although it can via HDMI. I need to check. The soundbar could be a good upgrade. I have an older TV in another room that has bad audio. A streambar would make a good upgrade all around. It will cost $129 and is a smaller version of the Smart Soundbar, which costs $180. (BR)
