What They Say
The Elec reports that LG is going to make extra investments at its Paju facility to build a new line, E6-3, to make G6 substrates (1500 x 1850mm) to support supply of flexible OLEDs to Apple. The line will support 15,000 substrates per month and will be the third with this capacity. Production is expected by 2022. The Elec reports that LG Display would like to supply 20 million panels to Apple in 2021.
What We Think
LG needs to try to stay ahead of BOE which may threaten LG’s position in flexible OLED, where Samsung is still by far the dominant supplier. (BR)
