Chinese Government Approves LG’s Guangzhou Facility

As recent reports predicted, the construction of LG’s new 8.5G OLED TV panel production facility in Guangzhou, China has been approved by local authorities.

Additionally, the company has increased its production capacity estimation. Previously, LG said that the factory would produce a maximum of 60,000 substrates per month and operate at half that capacity during its initial phase.

The company has now extended its maximum capacity target to 90,000 substrates per month, operating at two-thirds of this capacity shortly after mass production commences, which is currently scheduled for the second half of 2019.

LG says between the new facility and its 8.5G fab in Paju, South Korea, it will be able to produce up to 10 million 55″ OLED TV panels annually.
