IP Wire: 10-Millionth US Patent Actually Issued to AR Firm

Last week, the White House held a ceremony to acknowledge that a patent filed by defence contractor Raytheon on June 19th was the 10-millionth US patent to be signed in, 228 years after the first was signed in by George Washington in 1790.

However, IP Wire’s Patrick Anderson has since revealed that, in actual fact, the 10-millionth US patent was issued to California augmented reality software company Atheer on June 5th, titled “Gesture Recognition Systems and Devices For Low And No Light Conditions”. The second result takes into account because the original was counted from a change in the patent law in 1836.
