Platov Airport in Rostov-on-Don, Russia is home to an exhibit by creative studio, Lorem Ipsum.
Titled “Platov and his Time,” the exhibition uses technology, artwork and video to pay tribute to the role Platov and his army played in shaping the country’s history and has been designed to fit into the overall aesthetic of the buildings.
One installation called “The Free South” captures a day in the life of a Cossack 300 years ago on a 8.2m-wide cylindrical screen, with a resolution of 11,520 x 1,024, featuring footage shot in 8K by Lorem Ipsum.

“Battle of Borodino” features a 7.3m-long painting derived from a series of 19th-century works of art, which the company says “comes to life” when seen through a pair of the electronic viewfinders installed in front.
“History of the Cossacks” consists of two interactive parts. The first is a 3D illustration of the Cossacks’ clothing, while the second part includes a digital interface where visitors can play virtual dress-up with Cossack uniforms from various eras, using their own photo.

The “Don River” installation immerses visitors in an aerial ride over the Don as they ascend up one of the escalators in the airport. The film was shot with a drone at 8K resolution and is displayed on a 10.7m-long LED screen, incorporating 1,800 LED modules with a pixel pitch of 2.5mm.
Content is programmed and delivered using a combination of Dataton Watchout media server software with a Novastar signal processing system.
