Amazon has bought the rights to screen 20 games in each of the next three seasons from the English Premier :League.

This is the first time that a broadacaster other than Sky or BT has had this content in the UK and the first time, we think, that an OTT broadcaster has had a plan to support premium live sports. That could be a significant inflection point. I have heard that some large live events over OTT, especially some in Germany, have struggled to meet the bandwith requirements of many OTT viewers, and I can certainly say that Sky Go’s service can suffer from bitrate limitations when a popular team is playing.
