ANTVR Mix VR/AR Hybrid Headset Fully Funded in Eight Hours

AntVR, a VR company based in Beijing, China, recently launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund its new hybrid VR/AR headset, called AntVR Mix.

Zhu Lee, from the company’s software department, has confirmed that the device will be compatible with SteamVR and will project games as mixed reality holograms. The device features dual 1200 x 1200 low-persistence LCD displays with a 90Hz refresh rate and a 96° field of view.

In its current iteration, AntVR Mix is aimed at developers and content creators. The company is apparently focusing on the development of AR hardware and software, as well as a proprietary 6DoF controllers, accessories and inside-out tracking technology incorporating simultaneous localisation and mapping (SLAM).

At the time of writing, AntVR Mix had exceeded its $50,000 target by over 100%, with 156 backers, having been fully funded within eight hours. AntVR Mix is planned for release to its backers by the end of 2018.
